Over 30 German universities, research institutions and funding agencies (DAAD, DFG, Humboldt Foundation) will come together to present themselves in the “German Cluster” at the upcoming European Career Fair in Boston (Jan. 29-31).
On Sunday, January 31 (9am–12:30pm, breakfast buffet opens at 8:00 am), the German Cluster will present its information session, “New Initiatives, More Opportunities” at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge. This features two workshops for graduate and postdoctoral students as well as junior faculty. This event is open to anyone interested in study and research in Germany. The workshops are conducted in English. The event is free, but registration is required.

Workshop I: How to Find a Postdoc, Young Investigator and Faculty Position in Germany
This workshop is targeted to doctoral and postdoctoral students as well as assistant professors and provides information on opportunities on how to get a postdoc position and how to develop independent careers and set up a research team as junior faculty. The workshop will explore different paths to an academic career at universities and at non-university institutions. All disciplines are welcome. Possible funding opportunities will be explored.
Workshop II: Earning a PhD in Germany
This workshop is targeted to advanced undergraduate and graduate students and provides information on how to look for the right academic fit in Germany. The main focus will be on information on earning a doctoral degree in Germany. All disciplines are welcome. Possible funding opportunities will be explored.
